A Good Question to Really Get to Know Somebody

These days I find so much more enjoyment from having an in depth conversation with somebody than some bullshit surface level exchange. Even with people that I have just met, I like to dive deep, go right in. Get below the surface. Waste no time. As you age, you tend to cut the crap and become more direct with people.

I was just on a 3 month trip in Europe where I was meeting many, many different people from all around the world. I'm so fascinated to see the different ways in which others think. If you really want to cut to the core quickly and see what a person is all about, ask them this:  Why do you think we are on the Earth?

I LOVED watching people's reactions to this. It really catches most off guard. It's an edgy topic, as it touches many personal elements. It's far from the normal, everyday conversational topics that people are used to talking about, but for anybody who enjoys an intellectual and mind and spirit stimulating conversation you will see them LIGHT up. Once you go down this conversation path with people, the whole exchange really becomes quite interesting and you will find yourselves talking about some really fascinating stuff. The tangential subject matter that comes about is always rich.

If they aren't into it, well that's OK too. I would just leave it alone. For some people, it can be sort of an uncomfortable topic to broach. You'll know it...

I'm curious to know what your answer would be to this question?  Ring in down in the comments section. This is my answer:

You're simply here to learn. This is one big school house. We are on the Earth so that we might work on ourselves, develop, experience, and become a better versions of our souls.
